Keighley couldn't field a team against Ghyll for their last match, so they won 6-2.
To avoid relegation they needed The Manor to win convincingly against Woodhall Hills and they did, winning 5-1
Ghyll ended up 4th in their league and joining them next year are Clayton and Bradford Moore , who were promoted and South Bradford and Cleckheton, who were relegated.

Ghyll Ladies Committee organised a Chip and Sip event at the club last night and 22 ladies new to the sport enjoyed learning the basics of golf through four activities. It was a wonderful evening with Pimms on arrival and a final 'sip' afterwards on the patio.
Thank you to all who attended and Committee members and helpers who generously gave their time to make this happen, as well as golf pro Ben Mallinson, plus The Ravine At Ghyll for keeping us hydrated. All participants did fantastically well and we look forward to helping them with the next stage of their golf journey!
Our Honorary Treasure Rosemary Fort and her husband Derek ( also a member) have just returned from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
Taking eight days, six days camping on the way up and two days camping on the way down. An exhausting and tiring holiday.
What an unbelievable achievement.
Rosemary and Derek are now taking it easy for a few weeks before their next adventure.
Three Ghyll Golf Members, Stewart Newberry, Ian Heald and Andrew Burcher took on a 100 hole Charity event to raise money for the Ladies and Mr Captain's Charities, which are Colne Open Door Centre, British Heart Foundation and Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary.
They started at 4.30am and finished at 9pm and played 112 Holes.

Sue Taylforth's Lady President's Day was held yesterday in brilliant sunshine 🌞 and the format was an 11-hole Stableford fun competition, using only 3 clubs and a putter! The winner was Sue Whittingham, 2nd place Desley Mitchell and 3rd place Hilary Keeble. Nearest the Pin prize was won by Sue Hirons. In first place was Allan Starkie with 41 points.
Second was Bill Aitken with 38 points.
Ghyll ladies won their match at home against Windermere.
A great result in the 3 Counties and now only 1 match left on the 5th August against Dunnerholme.
A 4-2 defeat for the Scratch team playing top of the league Northcliffe who won promotion on the night.
Well done to Hillsie who won a vital 2 points for the team.

Ghyll Seniors were triumphant in their match yesterday v Oak Royal, winning 4-2, in the soaring temperatures! It was great to see that they brought a lady player as part of their team and was a perfect opportunity to have the same representing Ghyll. As usual great catering from The Ravine At Ghyll and our visitors were extremely complimentary about the course and the warm welcome.
Lady Captain's trip to the stunning Mottram Hall was a great success and was enjoyed by 21 ladies.

Ghyll Golf Club hosted their annual Ladies Open yesterday and the day was a huge success. The winning team from Breightmet, Stand and Greenmount golf clubs had 89 points, second place with 86 points were Lorraine Whipp and Sue Hirons from Ghyll with two ladies from Skipton, and 3rd with 83 points was Steph Robinson with three team mates from Clitheroe.
12 teams competed and everyone was very complimentary about the course, the warm welcome and excellent food by The Ravine At Ghyll. Halfway house raised £65 towards Lady Captain's charity, Colne Open Door Centre. A great day for Ghyll Golf Club.
Mr Captain's day took place on Saturday and over 85 players took part, with the day starting at 7 am and finishing after the England match.
Mr Captain was supported by his family, friends and members of Ghyll Golf Club.
The winner with 39 points was Kevin Honeyman.
Second place was Carl Hilary and Third was Neil Clapham.

Over 60's winner was Ian Magill

Another record for the club was that Kevin's wife Lesley won Lady Captain's day 2 week earlier with the same number - 39 points. A fantastic achievement for the family.

Congratulations to Kevin Honeyman who won Mr Captain's Day held yesterday in glorious sunshine. His wife Lesley won Lady Captain's Day two weeks prior - with both of them scoring an amazing 39 stableford points. We believe this is the first time husband and wife have won both Captains' prizes in the same year! Well done Mr and Mrs Honeyman.

He won the over 69 age category at Royal Musselburgh Golf Club with a gross of 72 and a net of 66.
Bill was only 2 shots away from the overall winner and with 150 golfers taking part, a great achievement.

Lady Captain's Day 2026
Well the rain finally stopped for Sue Hirons' Lady Captain's Day on Saturday 😊. The winner was Lesley Honeyman with 39 points, followed by Debbie Richardson on 36 points and Greta Henderson in 3rd place with 33 points. Front 9 prize was won by Lisa Jones, Back 9 by Susan Holdsworth with Pat Parrington winning Nearest the Pin and Susan Tattersall Straightest Drive. Janet Whipp was the 9 hole competition winner. A superb dinner provided by The Ravine At Ghyll and presentation evening followed attended by 26 ladies.
Thanks to everyone who helped on the day and special thank you to David Pinder and the Greens staff who somehow worked their magic to get the course looking brilliant after a horrendous week of weather.
Four of Ghyll ladies won the Shipley Open with 74 points, in difficult weather conditions.

The scratch team played Bracken Ghyll on Friday and had a brilliant 6-0 win. This leaves them currently in the middle of the table.

2025 Mr Captain [Bill Aitken] received a fabulous letter from the Prostrate Cancer Charity after his brilliant efforts last year, for raising £3350 for them.

Well that's a wrap....all White Rose matches played. Shame we couldn't end our campaign with a win but we enjoyed our visit to West Bradford yesterday all the same. Huge thanks to all ladies who played in the matches, all the support and well wishes and special thanks to Ruth Joyce for organising the fixtures, selecting the teams, liaising with our opponents, ordering our bacon butties and refreshments and sorting our lovely Ghyll tops. Mr President (Ken Inman) finally had his President's day after illness last year prevented the event taking place.
What a fantastic day. The event was supported by many of the members.
The overall winner was Danny Blackmore who after being a member for 37 years finally added his name to the Honours Board.

Yesterday Ghyll Ladies hosted Carus Green for the return match in the 3 Counties League and got a very creditable draw against a strong team. A superb result in very warm conditions. The Carus Green ladies loved the course and the warm welcome and hospitality. Well done ladies!

A team from Ghyll took part in a charity golf event at Meltham GC, Huddersfield for the Fresh futures charity,
Fresh Futures:
• Improve children and young people lives by providing opportunities to enable them to achieve a positive destination that is right for them
• Empower families and significant adults to make positive choices so children and young people live healthy and happy lives
• Work within their communities to support children, young people and their families and advocate for them
The Ghyll team won the overall event (with 96 points, Stableforth scoring 2 to count on 17 holes and all to count on the SI 1 par hole) and Craig Lister also won the nearest the pin prize for the day.

Windermere's Spring Open took place on the 16th April and Ghyll Golf was represented with a few teams.
The Winning Score, along with the 2nd, 3rd and fourth places was 43 points.
Congratulations to Seahen Grace & John Blackmore from Ghyll who came in 4th on a countback. The scenery was stunning!
Our very first ladies match in the Three Counties Handicap Shield was played at Carus Green Golf Club on Saturday 11 April, against a very strong, experienced team in challenging weather.
Our Ghyll ladies came away with a very respectable 2- 2 draw! A great day was had by all and we look forward to hosting Carus Green ladies at Ghyll on 24 May for the return match.
On Thursday Ghyll Ladies played our first White Rose match of the season against West Bradford and secured a comfortable win (4-1). The West Bradford Ladies loved their visit and were very complimentary about the welcome and the refreshments. Thank you and well done to all who played.
Ghyll Golf Club have a thriving junior section which welcomes children 6-18 years old. All juniors are encouraged to attend the 10 coaching sessions run by our professional coach, Ben Mallinson, on Thursday evenings 6-7.30pm. The first session of this season starts on 30 April.
Our membership fee covers the 10 coaching sessions and membership for the year. We have lots of fun events for our juniors and their families to join in with.
New members will be very welcome, just come along to the first session and join in the fun. No previous experience of golf is needed.
